Manipur earn 9 medals at powerlifting Nationals

IMPHAL, Nov 27 : State powerlifting team consisting of 13 athletes and led by Naorem Sushila Devi and Konsam Rosida bagged a total of 9 medals including 1 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals at the  National Equipped and Classic Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Men and Women Benchpress Championships 2019 which came to an end at New Delhi today.
Huirem Ibempishak Devi who was participating in the master-2 +84 kg, won a  bronze in equipped event by lifting 35 kg, and a silver in classic event with a lift of 30 kg.
Tourangbam Satish Meitei participating in the sub junior 66 kg, won two silver medals, one in equipped by lifting 125 kg and the other in the classic by lifting 110 kg.
Kh Marjuna Devi taking part in Master-1, 72 kg category won a bronze in the equipped event with a lift of 40 kg while Elangbam Jeshika Devi  lifted 50 and 40 kg in equipped and classic events for sub-junior women's 72 kg class respectively to win a silver and a bronze. Konthoujam Thoibi Devi who participated in the sub junior 57 kg category added another silver medal  in equipped  event with a lift of 45 kg while Sanasam Chaoba Devi won a gold medal in the sub junior 52 kg classic event with the best effort of 65 kg.
Manipur's Maibam Ibomcha and Irikhomba Elangbam  (53 kg sub junior);  Konsam Rohit (66 kg sub junior), Raikumar Naorem (master 1), K Dharmasing ( master 2), Huirem Punit (83 kg senior), Longjam Prashant (93 kg sub junior ) also took part in the same championship.
