Traditional wrestlers from Senapati feted

Senapati, Nov 27 : The Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) has organised a reception cum felicitation program for Kahveinai Josephine and Souveio Livingson who brought home medals from National Traditional Belt Wrestling and Mas Wrestling Championship, 2019 held recently at Hyderabad and Telangana.
Kahveinai Josephine is the daughter of Sahiinii and Sunita of Purul Akutpa Village under Senapati district and bagged two gold medals in the National Traditional Belt Wrestling and Mas Wrestling Championship, 2019 in the category of U-17 years (65 kg) whereas, Souveio Livingson who is the son of K  Dakhu and Thaisiiru of Purul Akutpa village, Senapati district, bagged a bronze medal in Traditional Belt Wrestling in the senior category (74 kg).
In the reception cum felicitation program held at Traffic Point, Senapati, Joram Koveo, President, Senapati District Olympic Association, praised the medallists who brought laurels to the district and Manipur at large.
He mentioned that Senapati district has got many talents in the different field of sports and has won medals for the past many years although they are hardly trained or had a little training. The president also urged all to encourage the young upcoming sportspersons of the district. While congratulating the medallists, he prayed that such programs would surely boost the morales of the athletes in the district and would act as  a stepping stone to success.
Athonliu, general secretary, Senapati District Women’s Association asserted such programs as proud moment for the district and longs for more achievements to bring more glory to the district while wishing more success to the medallists. P Delilah, president, Poumai Naga Women’s Union expressed happiness over the achievements of different personalities in the district. She expressed that it is an amazing task for a woman to have such achievement while quoting “Great things can be achieved by great sacrifices”. She also added that it was a great feeling to know that women in the district are not lagging behind in various fields in this competitive era.
KT Sounai, president, Purul Women Society stated that their news of achievements have brought joy and happiness. She also asked the two medallists to pursue their dreams though there are obstacles on their journey. The president on behalf of the Purul villagers expressed gratitude to SDOAM for organising such programs in honour of achievements made by the wrestlers.
