Myanmar girls football teams given warm welcome Exhibition match against Manipur team at DSA Kakching today

IMPHAL, Nov 28:  Two girls' football teams from Myanmar and their officials, who are visiting the State to play exhibition matches against Manipur as part of the 10 edition of the Sangai Festival, were given warm welcome at Moreh and Kakching today.
The 52 members including players and officials representing Myanmar's Sagaing and Mandalay were received at the Moreh Trade Centre in the border town by the Manipur Government Act East Policy Committee members including its coordinator Shiva Dutta Luwang and supervisor Sarat Maibam.
Sagaing girls team will play against Manipur girls team tomorrow at Kakching DSA Ground at 1 pm.
On the sideline of the welcome function at Moreh Trade Centre, Shiva Dutta Luwang expressed the significance of the Act East Policy and stated that Manipur and Myanmar have key roles to play in connecting India with the rest of the South-East Asia.
The Sangai Festival and the friendly exhibition football matches aim at strengthening the ties between India/Manipur and Myanmar. Myanmar will also host an exhibition match in January next year, he said.
Myanmar team leader Soe Thein Tin (Kakchingtabam B Gopal Sharma) who is from Mandalay Bamon Khunjao stated that teams include players who have played last year in Manipur.
The players who had visited the last year, he said are 'very happy' to be back. "The girls [Myanmar players] are very excited to meet their friends [Manipuri players] tomorrow," he said.
Meanwhile, the two teams were also received by Kakching AC MLA Y Surchandra, Kakching Municipal Council Members and representatives of different organisations, clubs at Kakching Lamkhai today.
A welcome function was organised at Kakching Lamkhai  co-sponsored by KMC and Manipur State Co-operative Bank, Kakching  Branch.
KMC Chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar, Councillors, members of Join Non Government Voluntary Organization (JNGVO), All Kakching Students' Union (AKSU), Kakching Lamkhai Bazar Business Welfare Board, DSA Kakching, students and teachers of Kakching Public School attended the function.
