N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo X Polo Club, Chingkheihunba-B and K&MM RS-A advance into quarter finals

IMPHAL, Nov 4 : Chingkheihunba Polo Club-B edged out Kangleipak Polo Star Club 6-3; X Polo Club trounced Paradise Polo Club 14-1 and K&MM Riding School-A saw off Samurou Polo Club 14-2 in today's pre -quarter final matches of the 35th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament being organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first pre-quarter final match, Chingkheihunba Polo Club-B and Kangleipak Polo Star Club play out a 0-0 draw in the first chukker. Kangleipak Polo Star Club however raced ahead chipping in twice in the second chukker with Kh Meiraba and K Premkumar making their efforts count to ensure a 2-0 lead till the break.
Chingkheihunba Polo Club B bounced back strongly in the third chukker with Th Santosh scoring twice to draw level before Kh Meiraba helped Kangleipak Polo Star Club regain the lead in the last minute of the chukker.
The game took a huge turn in the last chukker as Kh Rivando scored twice to overturn the lead in Chingkheihunba Polo Club's favour and Kh Yaikhomba and L Kokeshor chipped in a goal each to set up the 6-3 victory.
They will take on X Polo Club in the quarter final.
In the next match, X Polo Club, Wangkhei proved why they are one of the best teams today by pumping in 14 goals past Paradise Polo Club to book the quarter final berth.
Th Jacob was the highlight of the day as he scored 6 goals alone, 2 in the opening chukker and 4 in the second chukker to help X Polo Club seal the huge win. Experienced, L Atangba also made his name on the scoresheet with 5 goals in his name finding the target in all the four chukkers while P Ojit added a goal each in the first two chukkers. L Tolongkhomba also added a goal in the last chukker in this 14-1 demolition of Paradise Polo Club.
The lone goal of the losing side was scored by N Phillips in the last chukker.
Meanwhile in last pre-quarter final match staged today, W Johny scored 6 goals to help K&MM RS-A get the better of Samurou Polo Club 14-2. H Muhindro  followed Johny's foot step to add thrice, one each in the first three chukkers as Samurou Polo Club never looked in contest till the halfway of the game. O Rozer also fired home thrice, one each in the last three chukkers while Ch Ajit and M Mohen added a goal apiece to make it 14-2 at the end.
Both the goals for the Samurou team were scored by AK Ibomcha, first in the third chukker and another in the last.
