IMPHAL, Nov 8: The High Court of Manipur has directed Tongbram Bimolchand to personally appear before the Court on November 15 in connection with the contempt of Court case taken up against him for making derogatory remarks against an order passed by Division Bench of the High Court on October 18 quashing the results of the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination (2016).
The suo moto contempt case against Tongbram Bimolchand s/o T Jugin of Kairenphabi, was heard by a Division Bench headed by Justice Lunusungkum Jamir and Justice Kh Nobin today. Following the hearing, the Court directed the Registrar of the High Court to serve a notice to Bimolchand through a special messenger within three days, apart from directing Bimolchand to personally appear before the Court at 10.30 am sharp of November 15.
It may be mentioned that the suo moto contempt case was taken up against Tongbram Bimolchand for his statement against the judgment passed by the Division Bench, during a live discussion program aired on a local TV news channel, by observing that now-a-days such type of wild and personal allegations against the Judges are becoming common in print, electronic and social media and if such trend is not prohibited, the public will lose confidence in the judiciary.
