Father-daughter duo die, 3 injured in road mishap

KANGPOKPI, Nov 8: In a fatal road accident along Imphal-Tamenglong road commonly known as IT Road in Twilang area, a father-daughter duo died on the spot and three other sustained injury this afternoon at around 3.40 pm. The incident happened when a brick loaded Shaktiman bearing Regd No MNO7C-3897 got accident owing to brake failure near Songjang Pakang village along the state highway of Imphal-Tamenglong road.
The deceased who died on the spot have been identified as cousin brother of MLA Awangbou Newmai namely N Henry Ch (47) of Upper Takou (Old Takou) village, Tamenglong District and his 19 years old daughter N Siwangliu.
The injured victims whose names are yet to be known were given first aid at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital (Mission Hospital) and they were referred to Imphal for further treatment.
Villagers of Songjang Pakang Kuki village and Kotlen Kuki village along with KSO Twilang block and KSO Sadar Hills rushed to the spot and brought the injured victims to hospital apart from arranging and helping the deceased family for transportation of the dead bodies to their village.
