NSF calls anti-CAA bandh in Naga areas

KOHIMA, Dec 13: The Naga Students' Federation has called a 6 hour total bandh from 6 am to 12 pm of December 14 in all Naga inhabited areas against the Citizenship Bill which received President's assent yesterday.
The decision to call the 6 hour bandh was taken during the emergency Executive Council Meeting of the NSF today at its HQs in Kohima, Nagaland, said a statement of the student body issued by its vice president Dievl Yano and general secretary Liremo R Kikon.
The passing of the Bill was against the interests and the sentiments of the indigenous people in the North East States, it said urging all units and subordinate bodies to enforce the bandh in their respective areas.
The NSF also appealed all citizens and stakeholders to extend their support and cooperation in the fight to protect the existence and the identity of the indigenous people.
However, students appearing for examination, medical staff on duty, media personnel and wedding goers, provided the wedding card is produced, will be exempted from the proposed bandh, it said directing the federating units and the subordinate bodies of NSF to forward compliance report accompanied by pictorial/video proof to the office of NSF.
