AIZAWL, DEC 18: Following an appeal from the government, three more private hospitals have agreed to implement Mizoram Health Care Scheme (MHCS) with effect from December 18, an official statement said on Wednesday.
The three hospitals are Maraland Gospel Centenary Hospital in south Mizoram’s Siaha town, Mercy Hospital in Serchhip town and DM Hospital in Champhai town near the Myanmar border, the statement also said.
With these three private hospitals, altogether 16 private and church sponsored hospitals have agreed to implement the state healthcare scheme. These hospitals will levy charges from patients based on the notified rate made by the state government.
Earlier this month, the government had suspended empanelment of 15 private hospitals for refusing to implement the healthcare scheme.
While the government pushed to use its notified rate to charge patients, private hospitals insisted that they should be allowed to use their own existing rate and that the government should provide medical reimbursement permissible to the patients, who are treated in private hospitals based on the healthcare scheme. The government had rejected the plea on the ground that all beneficiaries are entitled to full medical care.
The MHCS was implemented by the state government all over the state on October 1. Under this scheme, beneficiaries are provided health insurance of up to Rs 2 lakh cover in a year.  The MSHCS will cover those BPL and APL families not covered under  Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and family members of a government servant, who are not entitle to medical assistance. Beneficiaries who receive treatment outside the state can also claim reimbursement, including conveyance. The scheme will also covers almost all diseases, including OPD and dialysis.
The state government is also planning to converge the state healthcare scheme with and  Ayushman Bharat- AB-PMJAY, Health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana had earlier stated.
Meanwhile, Champhai north assembly constituency MLA and Health and Family Welfare Board vice chairman ZR Thiamsanga said the government has deposited Rs 200 crore as corpus fund for implementation of the state healthcare scheme.
With bank interest the government at present has Rs 202 crore as corpus for the purpose. Apart from this, the government also allocated Rs 20 crore for implementation of the healthcare scheme under its flagship programme- Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP), which will cover six months, he added.
According to him, the government will review the notified rate for levying charges from patients if necessary.
