AIZAWL, DEC 29: Officials of Excise & Narcotics Department, Government of Mizoram, on Saturday seized  a substantial grams of heroin and arrested a Myanmarese national in connection with the seizure in south Mizoram's Champhai town bordering Myanmar, according to Mizoram police..
Acting on tip off, Excise officials intercepted a vehicle near a district park and recovered 382.6 grams of heroin worth Rs 12 lakh in the local market, the police said.
A 29-year-old Runhleichhuma, a resident of Tahan in Myanmar has been arrested for possessing the heroin, the police added.
The accused has been booked under relevant section of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
He was then sent to the Excise custody and was produced before district magistrate on Sunday.
Officials of Excise and Narcotics department also raided liquor factory at Phunchawng neighborhood on the outskirt of Aizawl on Saturday, the police also informed.
At least 16 illegal local liquor factories were damaged and 8 people have been arrested for running liquor factories in violation of the prohibition law. NNN
