Ph Naobi double helps AMOFA thrash LYCC 4-0 in 62nd CC Meet opener

IMPHAL, Dec 4 : Ph Naobi scored twice in AMOFA's 4-0 thrashing of LYCC, Liwa at Mapal Kangjeibung today in the opening match of the 62nd Sir Churachand Singh KSCI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2019. The tournament (knock-out) being organised by All Manipur Football Association is featuring a total of 32 teams including two outstation teams which will join the tourney from last 8 stage.

The tournament was formally inaugurated in the presence of social worker, Sheikh Noorul Hassan; L Lokendra Singh, president, All Manipur Sports Association; S Sanatomba Singh, former president, All Manipur Football Association and M Ratankumar Singh, president, All Manipur Football Association as presidium members.

The opening match of the tournament saw both AMOFA and LYCC start slowly but the game turned lopsided in the latter half as AMOFA enjoy total control and pump in three goals to complete the 4-0 rout. AMOFA and LYCC looked evenly poised as the game begin and exchanged few runs on either side before Ph Naobi gave AMOFA the breakthrough in the 23rd minute.

After the goal, LYCC also laboured well and created few chances in a bid to draw level but luck was not in their favour as their efforts were either too wide or were being handled with ease by AMOFA keeper.

Eventually, AMOFA went into the break with a 1-0 lead before the real spark came up in the second half as Malquer Kom doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute and H Bijio hit the team's third in the 76th minute.

Despite the huge lead AMOFA were seen exploiting LYCC's defensive lapses in the latter period of the game and it was Ph Naobi again who cut too close into rivals' box to slam home the final nail in the 78th minute and see off the lacklustre LYCC 4-0.

YPHU, Lalambung will meet CHIKL, Chajing in the next match of the tomorrow at 11.30 am before Tampi FC, Chandel take on NACO, Nambul Mapal at 2 pm.
