IMPHAL, Dec 5 : YPHU, Lalambung saw off CHIKL, Lilong Chajing 4-3 via penalty shoot out after 1-1 draw during regulation time before NACO sealed a slender 1-0 win against Tampi FC, Chandel to move into second round of the 62nd CC Meet Football Tournament today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the tourney's second and first match of the day, YPHU and CHIKL were made to work harder in the latter period as both the teams failed to find the target despite chances in the first half before kicks from the penalty mark decided the winners.
YPHU and CHIKL made a cautious start and concentrated mostly in defending their fort while making occasional forward moves that could not really materialised forcing the two teams to draw nil till the break.
After the barren first half, the two teams started pushing more men forward in search of the breakthrough and it was W Sadananda who converted a fine chance into goal in the 65th minute and gave YPHU the headway. CHIKL which were no less efficient than their rivals showed what they have got and drew level in the 71st minute through Th Jugesh.  The latter portion of the game saw both teams making frenetic efforts to break the deadlock but ended resultless till the end of the normal time and ultimately the game was decided via tie breaker wherein Y Kamando, W Olen and Kh Arun made no mistake in finding the target and gave YPHU the next round berth. Only A Ango and L Bidyachandra managed to find the target for CHIKL in the shoot-out.
Meanwhile in the third encounter of the tournament, NACO enjoyed a slight edge with more control and scoring chances throughout against Tampi FC but had to end up with a slender 1-0 win as the team failed to capitalise on second half chances. The only goal that separated the two teams was scored by P Ajangpu Kabui in the 21st minute of the match.
Tampi FC's PS Thaniwar and TN Jaonand picked up yellow cards in the 71st and the 90th minute respectively while Kh Rajnikanta of the winning side got the same earlier in the 65th minute.
AIM, Khabam will play TYDA, Toubul in the next match of the tournament on December 9 at 11.30 am before SYMROPIA, Churachandpur take on AFC, Thoubal Athokpam latter at 2 pm.
