BISHNUPUR, Dec 8: Endorsing the protest movement initiated by Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC) against CAB, volunteers of Joint Committee for Manipur Integrity Moirang Sub-Division and women vendors of Moirang Keithel staged a protest demonstration at Moirang Keithel, today.
During the demonstration, the protesters shouted several slogans against the legislation which aims to grant Indian citizenship to non-Muslim communities who are facing religious persecution at Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh once it becomes an Act.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest, convenor of the committee, Laluncha Ngangoicha said that the Bill which is likely to be tabled on Monday should not be implemented in all the North East States.
The committee, as a support to the stands of MANPAC and NESO, will launch stern agitation from tomorrow at Moirang against the controversial Bill, he said and urged all from the area to come out to take part in the protest.
Joint Committee for Manipur Integrity Moirang Sub-Division is conglomerate of clubs, CSOs, associations and Meira Paibi Lups of Moirang and its adjacent villages.
