IMPHAL, Dec 7: A large number of womenfolk, under the aegis of Coordina-ting Committee On Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) attemp-ted to storm the residence of Inner Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan at Kongba Nandei-bam Leikai at around 2 pm today, demanding the MP and the authorities concerned to pressure the Central Government to declare the details of the Naga peace talks, and warning against any harm to the integrity of  Manipur or the creation of territorial council inside the State.
The protesters were however stopped from entering the MP's residence by police personnel who explain- ed to them that the MP was in Delhi taking part in the ongoing Parliament session.
The womenfolk demanded to speak to someone from the MP's residence who could relay their demands and as such, six women leaders were allowed to enter the resi- dence.
They were then allowed to talk with Dr RK Ranjan on the phone.
Speaking to media persons after the phone call with the MP, Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ra-mani said that they urged the MP to take up every necessary step to ensure that the idea of territorial council does not turn into a reality which may pave way for disintegration of Manipur.
She continued that they also demanded the MP to resign and come back to Manipur if his appeal or words are not heard by the Centre even though they are the same party.
"We also demanded him to take a firm stand against creation of territorial council in Manipur and to say no to any impact on the integrity of Manipur during the Parliamentary session which will conclude on December 13", she said.
The MP reportedly assured to do the needful in the interest of the people, she added. On the other hand, Ramani expressed disappointment at the decision of the State Government to convene the State Assembly session on December 18 and demanded the Government to convene the Assembly session before December 10 so as to adopt a resolution in favour of the State and send it to the Parliament before the winter session concludes. She also demanded the Chief Minister to listen to the plight of the people reasoning that he is not just the CM of Heingang AC but of the whole State.
