Headed for South Africa

IMPHAL, Dec 7: The three Amur Falcons, which were tagged with satellite radio transmitters by State Forest Department and Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in an attempt to study their migra-tory routes and patterns, are currently heading to South Africa.
According to a source from WII, one of the birds, Chiyulon has reached Zambia and is currently at Zimbawe border.
On the other hand, Amur Falcon Irang has reached Tanzania while Barak has reached Kenya, the source mentioned adding that the three birds might reach South Africa before Christmas.
The source also informed that Amur Falcon Longleng which was tagged from Nagaland, has also reached Tanzania.
