IMPHAL, Dec 8: DESAM and AIMS have pledged support to MANPAC’s call for suspension of daily activities from 1 am of December 9 till 3 am of December 11.
Speaking to media persons at the Kwakeithel office of AIMS this afternoon, DESAM vice- president Nameirakpam Adison Meitei said that all branches of DESAM and AIMS have been intimated to fully support MANPAC’s call for suspension of daily activities.
He said that the MLAs and Ministers starting from the Chief Minister as well as the MPs elected from the State should stop dancing to the tune of the Central Government.
They should stop telling falsehoods to the people on the issue of CAB, Adison said.
Instead of claiming that CAB would not harm Manipur or a special clause would be inserted to protect Manipur, the State Government must adopt a firm position against the CAB and forward it to the Central Government, he demanded.
AIMS vice-president Saikhom Premchand too vowed that the MANPAC’s call for suspension of daily activities would be given unstinted support.
The claim that a special clause would be inserted in CAB so as to protect Manipur from its impacts is not very clear and the people are confused, Premchand said.
As for DESAM and AIMS, CAB should not be implemented in Manipur under any circumstance, he asserted.
AIMS and DESAM would support whatever decision adopted by MANPAC on the issue of CAB, he said.
Meanwhile, extending solidarity to the MANPAC’s call, a number of women staged a protest demonstration at Singjamei Keithel this afternoon.
They shouted slogans like “CAB should not be implemented in Manipur”, “We oppose settlement of outsiders in North East region”, “Long live Manipur” etc apart from burning copies of CAB.
Similar protest demonstrations were also seen at Khurai, Nambol, Oinam and Moirang Keithel.
