MPDA, MPDF fix responsibilities

    08-Dec-2019
IMPHAL, Dec 8: Manipur People Democratic Alliance (MPDA) and Manipur People Democratic Front (MPDF) have cautioned that the BJP MLAs and MPs have to bear the full responsibility for any untoward incident which might occur in Manipur if the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is passed and implemented in the State.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, MPDA convenor Dr Th Inaocha demanded MP Dr RK Ranjan and Chief Minister N Biren Singh to clarify as to what are the clauses they have always been claiming will be inserted in the Bill for the protection of the State and its people, and to make it available in the public domain for all to witness.
Stressing on the need for the people, CSOs, political parties and the Government to stand together against the threat posed by CAB, he said that it is the duty of all the politicians to pressure the Centre and prevent it from being passed in the Parliament.
He reasoned that if the BJP MPs, especially the Rajya Sabha MPs, from the North East region act honestly for the interest of the people, then it will be impossible to pass the Bill.
On the other hand, MPDF secretary Sapamcha Samungou said that MPDF and MPDA will fully support the all North East bandh, including Manipur, called on December 10.
He then lamented that the all political party delegates which met Union Home Minister Amit Shah concerning the CAB issue, has failed to minutely detail the discussions in the meeting to the public till date, adding that instead, the political parties are sending out various claims one after the other confusing the public.
