Mishap claims driver

NONEY, Dec 7: In an unfortunate event, a cement carrying truck fell into a gorge near Taobam/Irang village along Imphal-Jiribam hghway at around 2.30 am today, killing its driver in the process.
According to a police source, the truck fell into the 300 feet deep gorge which is located around 1 kilometre away from Taobam.
The deceased truck driver has been identified as Ngangbam Tomba (40) s/o Romol of Khurkhul Sebok Leikai, the source informed adding that the truck has also been badly damaged in the crash.
The body of the deceased river was recovered by a team of Noney PS with help from the locals and it would to be taken to Imphal for post mortem.
A case has also been registered at Noney PS, the source added.
