Cease work strike paralyses life across districts

Spt/Bpr/Jiri/Kak, Dec 9: The 50 hours cease work strike called by Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC) against CAB has paralysed different districts of Manipur, today.
Senapati: Strongly objecting to the introduction of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the District frontal organizations including Naga People's Organization, Senapati District Students Association and Senapati District Women's Association organised a sit in protest at Traffic Point, Senapati today.
People from different walks of life took part in the protest.
Bishnupur: Lives at Bishnupur District were also affected by the strike as numbers of women vendors in the district were comparatively low and inter-district and inter-village passenger service providers were not operated.
However, few private vehicles, E Rickshaw and MST Bus were seen plying in the district.
Apart from few women vendors and small shops, the majority of the establishments in the districts were all closed, except for some offices and schools.
Though reports of burning tyres by the protestors were reported from some areas of the district, no untoward incidents were happened on the first day of the strike due to timely intervention of State police and staff of fire service.
Jiribam: The cease work strike called by Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC) against CAB paralysed normal life at Jiribam District.
During the strike, Schools and Colleges at the district were closed and public transports were not seen on the road.
Supporting the strike, volunteers of MANPAC Jiribam blocked the NH-37 at Jiri Bridge.
Speaking to media persons, convenor of MANPAC Jiribam, W Dinesh Meitei said that the total shutdown called by MANPAC against the legislation which seeks to grant  Indian citizenship to non-Muslim communities from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh is fully supported by the people of the Jiribam district.
He then appealed all the people of Manipur to support the protest movement initiated by MANPAC to ensure that the Bill doesn't hurt the sentiment of North East people, especially Manipur.
Kakching: Women vendors of Pallel Keithel also endorsed the cease work strike called by MANPAC and raised several slogans against the CAB.
On the other hand, women vendors of Wangjing-Lamding Keithel took out a protest rally in the surrounding areas of the Keithel, yesterday.
During the rally, the women vendors chanted several slogans against CAB such as "We are against CAB", "Don't break Manipur integrity" etc.
