Bomb planted at LFS

IMPHAL, Apr 22 : A hand grenade wrapped in a black polythene bag was found planted at the entrance gate of Little Flower School, along Tiddim road today morning.
An ROP team of 5 J&K Rifles deployed near Imphal international airport came across the suspicious object wrapped in a black polythene lying near the entrance gate of the school.
The security personnel immediately blocked the busy Tiddim road and diverted all the vehicles coming from either sides to alternate routes.
Bomb experts of 5 J&K Rifles tried to first defuse the bomb thinking it was an improvised explosive device, but on further checking it was found that it was a hand grenade. Tiddim road was blocked for more than 2 hours. A team of Imphal West district police personnel led by Additional SP Operation and Additional SP Law and Order also rushed to the spot.
Lamphel Police have registered a case regarding the incident.
Today's incident is the second such incident at the school.
Following the detection of the hand grenade in front of Little Flower School, security has been beefed up at all the other Catholic Schools in Imphal.
CDO teams have been put on duty to intensify security arrangements near all Catholic Schools.
Meanwhile, Joint Students Coordination Committee (JSCC) and Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) have strongly condemned the planting of a bomb at Little Flower School today.
The two bodies said that the incident will cause psychological trauma  to the innocent students and added that it was an attempt to hamper the call for a disturbance free education zone.
The associations further reasoned that it is the duty of the school authorities to make the public aware about any issues which might have led to such unfortunate incidents, apart from strongly condemning such act which affect the innocent students.
The two associations further appealed to those concerned not to repeat such act in the future and to bring about an amicable solution at the earliest.
