Imphal sweats as temperature surge from last year

IMPHAL, May 11: With the sharp increase in temperature in the State, it has been learned that the amount of rainfall experienced from May 1 to 10 this year is around 136 mm less compared to the same period last year.
Based on the analysis of the temperature data provided by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research of the period between May 1 and 10 for last year and this year, it is found that the rainfall between May 1 to 10 this year was only 33.4 mm while last year, it was 169 mm.
On the other hand, as per the data, the humidity level was 83-100 percent during the said period last year but this year the humidity level is between 76-91 percent.
On further analysis of the data, it was found that rainfall between May 1 and May 10 last year ensured proper temperature level but this year, the lack of rainfall during the said period has resulted in an increased temperature, including the minimum temperature.
The highest temperature on May 1 last year was 28.0 degree and the lowest temperature was 15.3 degree while the humidity was 92 percent and the amount of rainfall was 1.2 mm. For this year, on May 1, the highest temperature was 24.0 degree and the lowest was 18.0 degree while humidity level was 76 percent and rainfall at 13.6 mm.
On May 2 (last year), the highest temperature was  27.7 degree, lowest was 19.4 degree, humidity level was 83 percent and rainfall was 12.1 mm while for May 2 this year, the highest temperature was 32.0 degree, lowest was 19.2 degree, humidity was 76 percent while there was no rainfall.
On May 3 last year, the highest temperature was recorded at 27.5 degree and the lowest was measured at  15.5 degree while humidity was 92 percent with no rainfall. On the other hand, the highest temperature for May 3 this year was 29.8 degree and the lowest was 21.4 degree while humidity remained at 85 percent with 0.7 mm of rainfall.
For May 4 last year, the highest temperature was 26.9 degree, lowest was 18.4 degree, humidity was 86 percent with 8.8 mm of rainfall while for this year (May 4) the highest and lowest temperatures were 28.1 and 20.0 degrees respectively and humidity was 88 percent with 7.7 mm of rainfall.
On May 5 last year, the highest temperature was 20.0 degree, lowest was 17.0 degree, humidity was 90 percent and rainfall was at 66 mm while this year, on May 4, highest temperature reached 27.3 degree and lowest temperature reached 21.4 degree while humidity remained at 91 and the rainfall at 7.4 mm.
For May 6 (last year) the highest temperature was  26.3 degree, lowest was 16.9 degree, humidity was 100 percent and rainfall was 43 mm while for this year (May 6), highest temperature was  29.0 degree, lowest was 19.5 degree, humidity was  81 percent with 4 mm of rainfall.
Last year, the highest temperature on May 7 was  26.0 degree, lowest was 19.7 degree, humidity was 96 percent and rainfall was 7.8 mm while for this year the figure was 30.3 degree for highest temperature, 18.7 degree for lowest, 81 percent for humidity with no rainfall.
On May 8 last year, highest temperature was 26.8 degree, lowest was 19.1 degree, humidity was 93 percent and rainfall was 0.5 mm while for May 8 this year, highest was 31.2 degree, lowest was 18.9 degree, humidity was 81 percent with no rainfall.
For May 9 (last year) the highest recorded temperature was 25.8 degree, lowest was 19.3 degree, humidity was 94 percent and rainfall was 24.1 mm while for this year, the highest was 31.0 degree, lowest was 22.8 degree, with humidity at 83 percent with no rainfall.
On the other hand on May 10 last year, the highest recorded temperature was 23.8 degree while the lowest recorded temperature was 15.4 degree. On the same day, humidity was measured at 89 percent while rainfall was recorded to be  5.9 mm but for this year, on May 10, the highest temperature was 31.3 degree and the lowest temperature was 22.6 degree while the humidity was at 81 degree with no rainfall.
