Mishap claims child

IMPHAL, May 11: A nine month old baby girl was killed after a diesel auto-rickshaw, (carrying 7 passengers including the girl and her mother) rammed into a roadside post while swerving to avoid a two wheeler near Lamsang oil pump today.
According to a reliable source, the accident occurred at around 10 am today, when the Bazar to Mayang Langjing Koutruk bound auto, swerved hard to avoid colliding with an Activa which tried to cross, and struck a post.
The source informed that the 9 month old baby girl, identified as Ningthoujam Koshina, died on the spot while her mother, Ningthoujam Rebika, sustained serious injuries.
The mother is currently under treatment at Shija hospital, the source added.
