Students Union of Kangleipak elects new office bearers

IMPHAL, May 12 : An oath taking ceremony cum exchange of chair for the office bearers of Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) was held today at the office of Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) located at New Checkon, Imphal.
During the programme, outgoing president of SUK, N Gobin handed over the post to the newly elected president, Dhanakumar Ningthouja. MU’s reader, Dr Th Bharat then administered oath of the 9 newly elected executives of the union.
Speaking at the event, Human Rights Defender, Manipur, chairman Joy Chingakham conveyed that students had proved their patriotism and love for the motherland time after time by raising their dissenting voices in many issues of the State like Chaklam Khongchat, Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) and Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016.
Saying that students are the powerhouse and future of the society, he pointed out the need of SUK to become stronger so that it can represent the students and lead the society in the right direction.
Newly elected president Dhanakumar Ningthouja maintained that SUK will always work for the welfare of the students.
New initiatives will be launched soon to assist  the underprivileged students in their studies, Dhanakumar said and added that the union will also continue to organise competitions for the students to sharpen their knowledge and awareness.
Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) was established in 2011 and is a member body of Joint Students Coordination Committee (JSCC), Manipur.
Manipur University, reader Dr Th Bharat, Human Rights Defender, Manipur, chairman Joy Chingakham, CCSK, president, Jitendra Ningomba, Ching Tam United Women Association (CHITUWA), president Maibam Purnimashi Leima,  Women Welfare Organisation Kangleipak (WWOK), president Ksh Bala Leima, Kangleipak Women’s Welfare Association (KWWA), president Thongam Kumu Leima, SUK, advisor Loitongbam Dollar Meitei and former president Nongthombam Gobin Meitei attended the ceremony as presidium members.
