TRAU FC on verge of winning Second Division League title

IMPHAL, May 12 : TRAU FC closed in on winning the Second Division title and promotion to the next edition of I League with a slender 1-0 victory against Lonestar Kashmir FC (LSK FC) in their last away tie of the final round of the competition at TRC, Ground Srinagar today.
Lonestar Kashmir FC playing at its home were more positive in the first half but could not overcome defence line of TRAU FC who are looking for a big move after sealing three of the three previous matches including one home and two away matches. TRAU FC also managed to create few chances in this first half but could not convert into goal making it 0-0 till the break.
The game shifted towards TRAU after the break with some penetrating moves and were closed enough to make the headway in the 65th minute when U-22 forward Ngangbam Naocha got a clear chance but he failed to make his effort count. The team however made up the mistake when Ngaraipam K fired past the LSK Keeper two minutes away from time and ensured the 1-0 win.
With the win, TRAU FC cemented their position at the top of the table and are one win away from making themselves in the next year's edition of I League..
Adeyemi Wahab Lasis (44'), Gulshan Kumar (90'+2') were yellow carded by the referee for their unsportsmanlike behaviours.
TRAU will host Ozone FC in the next match on May 19 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium before facing Chhinga Veng FC in their last home tie on May 25.
