21st Challenge CupKVFC top VSO 2-0 to extend winning run, BVFA earn first win

IMPHAL, May 13 : KVFC, Konthoujam cruised to a 2-0 win against VSO, Tekcham while BVFA, Bishnupur edged past Ching-Tam, Sangakpham 2-1 in today's  Group D league matches of the ongoing 21st Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Football Association, at Football Turf, Khuman Lampak.
KVFC took off the game on a positive note and earned a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to 4th minute strike by Ch Anandkumar.
VSO, Tekcham failed to put up a good show after the restart as well while the Konthoujam side were looking for a way in regular interval. Their relentless effort handed them the reward in the 47th minute as Tapuidoi tapped in another to extend the lead to 2-0. VSO also made some fine runs in the late stage but KVFC defence stood firm and well to deny any change in the scoreline till the final whistle.
Meanwhile in the second match of the day, BDVFA bounced back from earlier loss to earn a 2-1 win against Ching-Tam.
L Kirankumar of BDVFA broke the deadlock in the 16th minute of the match after a cautious start from both the ends while his compatriot Kh Gourshyam hit the second in the 39th minute to double their advantage.
Ching-Tam rallied back quick and grab a goal through H Rohit in the 40th minute but their latter effort to drew level were denied with ease by the Bishnupur side.
NCVFC will meet TBSFA, Taobungkhok in a Group B league match tomorrow at 2.30 pm while FC Eimi wll face UKFC in another Group B league match latter at 4 pm.
