Fall Armyworm spreads wider

IMPHAL, May 13: Notwithstanding all the measures taken up by Agriculture Department and other relevant authorities to contain Fall Armyworm, the pest has been attacking more and more maize plantations in different parts of the State.
Agriculture Department has been continuously receiving reports of invasion on maize plantations by Fall Armyworm from different corners of the State.
In response, the department has been spraying pesticide at affected areas, informed a source.
Whether pesticide being sprayed by monitoring teams constituted by Agriculture Department is effective enough or not would be reviewed soon on ground by experts drawn from ICAR, CAU Imphal and Central Institute of Pest Management, added the source.
