Inter GC/Bn CRPF Hockey Tourney begins

IMPHAL, May 13
Inter GC/Bn (Ops) CRPF Hockey Tournament organised by 109 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP, M&N Sector CRPF began today at Mongsangei Makha Leikai.
The tourney was inaugurated by Sk Sharma, Brig (retd), DIGP Range, Imphal, in presence of Sh Somanath Maharana, Second in Command (Commandant AOL); Sh Alok Ranjan, Deputy Commandant, 109 Bn and several other dignitaries and spectators, said a statement of 109 Bn Commandant.
The tourney is being participated by 9 teams of CRPF Battalions and GC deployed in Manipur and Nagaland, namely 32, 69, 86, 78, 109, 143, 173 Bns and Group Centre Imphal.
In the opening match, 109 Bn registered a huge 9-0 win over 87 Bn while 143 Bn defeated 78 Bn by 12-2 margin in the second match of the day. Speaking on the occasion, retd Brig, SK Sharma exhorted the players to play the game in true spirit and continued that such event will not only help in building team spirit but also make one fit and healthy. He also wished luck to all teams.
