IMPHAL, May 14: The suspicious article placed at the home of one Neng-khoneng Munlun of Moreh Ward No 7 by a masked man yesterday and later taken into the custody of Tengnoupal District Police has turned out to be not radioactive.
A team of professors and physicists comprising of Prof Dr P Sumitra of MU, Dr B Arunkumar  (RIMS, Radiology Department), Dr S Nabadip of Oriental College and Dr N Manoranjan of MU went to Moreh today and examined the article using a radioactive detection machine.
The team did not find any positive signal of the article being radioactive. However, the exact contents of the package could not be ascertained.
Tengnoupal SP Th Vikramjit said that the package does not contain any explosive material.
Nonetheless, he said that Teng- noupal police would pull up the miscreants who brought the suspicious package and created a panicky situation among the masses, particularly among the Moreh denizens.
Meanwhile, officials from the Atomic Mineral Directorate for Exploration and Research (NER) Shillong today informed that the addressed inscribed on the container recovered in Manipur is fake.
The address in the container that was recovered in Moreh town of Manipur bordering Myanmar reads, "Department of  Atomic Mineral (AMD), Director of Atomic Explosion Research Centre for NE Region, Shillong and also had UCIL written on top.
However, the real address of the office in Shillong is Atomic Mineral Directorate for Exploration and Research (NER) Shillong and the UCIL had closed its office in Megha-laya since August 2018.
It was also informed that there is no such atomic explosion research centre in the country.
On the 99 percent marking on the container, the officials were of the opinion that it cannot be that refined.
Informing that officials have already left for Manipur to investigate the recovered item and how radioactive it is, the officials said that even if the item is uranium, it will be of low grade or left over of what is refined with only a small percentage of uranium content in it.
