YWC Langthabal emerge winner of S Tombi Memorial Sub-Junior Girls football tourney

Imphal, May 16: Welfare Club (YWC), Langthabal emerged winner by defeating ICSA, Irengbam 2-1 in the final of the 1st Sapam Tombi Singh Memorial Sub-junior Girls Inter-Club Football tournament 2019 organized under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal under the sponsorship of SBS Trust, Singjamei.
The winner team YWC, Langthabal received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 with trophy sponsored by SBS Trust, Singjamei in the name of late Sapam Tombi Singh while the runners-up team ICSA, Irengbam pocketed in a sum of Rs 10,000 with trophy.
FC Andro was declared the 'Fair Play team of the tournament' and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 with trophy donated by Oinam Nabakanta Singh in the name of his late father Oinam Naobi while W Thoibi was adjudged the player of the final match and honoured with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Earlier, YWC Langthabal and ICSA, Irengbam played an evenly contested match to outdo each other in the thrilling final match. However, ICSA surged ahead in the 44th minute by taking advantage of a corner kick which was beautifully guided by L Vijaya inside the net to give 1-0 lead for  ICSA after the goalless 1st half. Undaunted, YWC Langthabal kept on mounting pressure in search of an equaliser which was ultimately paid off in the 63rd minute through Kimtel Angel to make it 1-1.
Charged up by the equalizer, Remi Thokchom extended the lead to 2-1 for YWC four minutes later and stood firm on their ground to maintain the lead till the end of the regulation time to take home the trophy with the convincing 2-1 victory.
