IMPHAL, May 16:  In connection with the allegations by a certain student organization, Education Minister Th Radheshyam has clarified that there is no mission named as 'Go to School' of the present State Government and it only has 'School Phagathansi' mission, which is also in the initial stage.
The Minister also announced that the HSLC or Class X examination will be announced on May 18.
He made the statement at his office chamber today afternoon, following the allegation of a student body which claimed that the ‘Go to School’ mission is only for namesake, after it took out inspecting drives at various schools and found lack of basic facilities and amenities.
Radheshyam explained that there isn’t any mission named ‘Go to School’ as the Government only has 'School Phagathansi' mission for bringing development in the education sector and for the said mission, 60 schools (one each of 60 different ACs) have been identified till now.
He said that School Phagathansi mission is also at the initial stage and it was announced during a public meeting held at Yumnam Huidrom a few days before the election Model Code of Conduct came into force.
He conveyed that the mission is a pilot project of the State Government and is a holistic approach to reinforce the schools by upgrading lab, furniture, addressing lack of teachers and many more and for that the preparation is on.
Radheshyam further said that as different schools have their own unique problems, the Government has taken up the challenge to bring positive changes in the education sector.
The Minister continued that the recent inspection done by the student body and how it was published in media, is more like killing School Phagathansi mission  before it gets the chance to shine.
Highlighting improvements in the educational sector, Radheshyam said that the pass percentage for the Government schools has been increasing in recent years. The pass percentage of Class XII for Government schools increased from 51 percent to 62 percent this year. The enrolment in Government schools has also increased this year.
The Minister then appealed to all those concerned not to repeat such acts which will demoralize the students making all of the Government's  efforts go to waste and to instead give suggestion to the respective Departments and the Ministers concerned.
