MCPCR takes up suo moto case

IMPHAL, May 16: The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has taken up a suo moto case in connection with the death of newborn baby at Little Clinic, Nagaram on April 11 which has gone viral on social media.
The baby was delivered by one Leishangthem Prema Leima of Langthabal before it died soon after.
After registering a suo moto case following detection of certain suspicious aspects through social media, a team of MCPCR conducted a spot enquiry at Little Clinic today.
MCPCR Member Secretary Banti Singh Konthoujam said that nothing concrete can be said about the case at the moment as the enquiry is in initial stage.
Nonetheless, Banti Singh has lodged a complaint at Lamphel police station.  A joint team of MCPCR and Social Welfare Department officials was also sent to talk with the parents of the deceased baby but they could not meet the parents.
