Apunba FC enter quarterfinal of VSO Trophy

Imphal, May 16: Apunba FC proved more tough competitor than Farish FC when the former beat the latter in the exhilarating penalty shootout by 7-6 goals to book a place in the quarterfinal of the ongoing 5th VSO Trophy Cash Prize Soccer Tournament organised by Khongjom Circle Veteran Sports Organisation, today at Tekcham HS Ground.
The match was decided in the kick from penalty mark after it ended at 1-1 at the end of regular time.
Earlier, Apunba was leading 1-0 through a spirited goal from Basanta in the 28th minute but Sahabaz scored the equalizer in the 45th minute.
For Apunba FC, Basanta, Itomba, Rupa, John, Sanatomba and Sanju were the successful goal scorer while Sarif, Yasir, Sahbaz, Nawas and Ojo scored for Farish FC, one less than Apunba FC.
