ESU emerge girls' winners at 27th State Youth Basketball Championship

IMPHAL, May 17 : ESU claimed the girls' title of the Late Sapam Ongbi Surjalata Devi Memorial 27th State Youth Basketball Championships, 2019 jointly organised by Model Club and Manipur Basketball Association at Basketball Court of Model Club at Chingamakha.
ESU, Palace Compound defeated Model Club, Chingamakha 30-18 to win the ultimate title of the girls competition which featured the above two teams.
The two sides were on level terms till halfway (4-4 in first quarter; 10-10 in second quarter) of the game but ESU did well to make the most of the scoring in the last two quarters to lay their hands on the title.
ESU's Samjota collected the highest 10 points for the team and S Deepa managed 8 points.
Kh Omega (6), A Luxmi (4) and K Leishembi (2) also contributed to help ESU fetch the title
Model Club on the other hand stacked up 18 points with the help of W Deepa (9), S Herol (7) and L Kiran (2).
Boys' Semi-finals
Group A winners, ESU will meet Group B runners up, YPHU in the first semi-final match of the boys' competition tomorrow at 4 pm while Group B winners, Youth Club, Uripok will take on Group A runners up, BSC in the last semi-final match latter at 5 pm.
