IMPHAL, May 18: The All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters’ Association launched a non-cooperation movement against IOC but the same has been suspended on the assurance of the Chief Minister to address their grievances.
The non-cooperation movement was launched in protest against IOC’s refusal to induct 89 LPG TTs which have been standing idle after they were laid off by IOC.
Earlier, the 89 LPG TTs were also engaged in transporting bulk from outside the State up to the Sekmai bottling plant.
All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters’ Association Secretary Kh Jodha said that a meeting was held on September 7, 2018 with Chief Minister N Biren, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam, Education Minister Th Radheshyam, IOC officials and representatives of the association in the Chief Minister’s chamber.
During the meeting, the IOC officials agreed to induct the 89 idle LPG TTs and re-engage them in transporting bulk LPG.
But the IOC failed to fulfil the agreement which was reached in presence of the Chief Minister. This failure compelled the LPG transporters to launch a non-cooperation movement against IOC since Thursday, Jodha said.
Meanwhile, the association has talked with the CAF&PD Minister  as well as the Chief Minister who is currently at Delhi.
The Chief Minister assured that the agreement reached on September 7 last year would be translated into action as the election model code of conduct lapses.
Subsequently, the non-cooperation movement has been suspended till May 30, Jodha added.
