Bhumika wants to become a scientist
IMPHAL, May 18: Bhu-mika Shamurailatpam, of Pitambara English School, Kwakeithel, who topped the HSLC examination 2019 conducted by BoSEM, has expressed her desire to become a scientist in the future.
She is the youngest daughter (among three daughters) of Sh Tomba Sharma and Sh Shanti Devi of Kakwa Naorem Leikai. Her father is a cook at Narsingh Mandir and also runs a pharmacy at the locality while her mother is a housewife.
Bhumika's eldest sister is doing MSc (Chemistry) at Hyderabad Central University while her elder sister is planning to appear her first medical entrance exams.
Speaking to media persons she said that her hobbies are painting, reading novels and listening to songs, Bhumika said that she wishes to pursue Science stream and become a scientist in the future.
It may be mentioned that her eldest sister stood 16th position in the HSLC exam 2012 while her elder sister stood 11th in HSLC 2016.
Bhumika always stood first in her class since she was a child and she gave her HSLC exam with full preparation thus making her family believe that she would definitely score anywhere from 1st to 5th rank but none though that she would top the exam, her parents said.
On the other hand, Bhumika said that she went for tuition for most of the subjects and this resulted in less number of hours for study.
However, she said that she studied for around 3 hours everyday.
She also opined that it is better to focus more on tuition as the study hours in school are less.
Stating that she always try to cover every possible syllabus even if she did not get long hours to study, Bhumika said that she was able to top the exam due to the support from the school and tuition.
Expressing disappointment at the frequent bandh and blockades in the State, she also said that she began to focus more on tuition owing to the frequency of such disturbances.
Arvind eyes civil services
Arvind Maibam, a student of Tiny Tots' Unique School Imphal who clinched the 2nd position in the HSLC exami-nation conducted by BoSEM by scoring a total of 567 mark, has expressed the desire to become an IAS officer and improve the Government's adminis-tration.
Arvind hails from Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai and is the son of Shanjit Maibam, who is an Assistant Professor of Sociology Department, Liberal College and Maibam Romita , a housewife.
Arvind said that he began studying at Tiny Tots Unique School Imphal since Nursery and he went to coaching for only a few subjects including Meitei Mayek, English and Biology. Saying that he is very punctual at school, he said that he always went through everything that his teachers taught for the day when he arrives home.
Arvind said that he does not use mobile phone or internet frequently and he use them only when he has some useful reading materials to download.
He said that he started reading for class XI by going for tutions and added that he will find the class XII examination a bit easy if he understands the syllabus thoroughly from class XI itself.
Arvind expressed that he will continue his studies and conduct research on his desired subject if he does not get through the UPSC examination.
Maintaining that he starts studying from 6 am up till the time he gets ready for school and in the evening, his study timing begins from 7 till 10.30 pm, he credited his success to all his family members for supporting and helping him.
Arvind's parents also expressed extreme happiness on him bagging the second position in the class X examination and maintained that they will do everything in their power to make Arvind's dream come true.
Sophiya chooses civil services
She scored a total of 567 (94.5 percent), thus secured the 2nd position, along with Arvind Maibam of Tiny Tot's Unique School.
Sophiya said that she did not think she would clinch the 2nd position and added that Maths and Higher Maths are her favourite subjects.
She said that she did not go for many tuition in her lower classes but once she reached class X, she took part in a 6 months foundation course and also went for private tuitions for all subjects.
Sophiya also said that, she was able to come 2nd position due to the mentorship of her uncle, Huidrom Nabakumar (Yumnam Huidrom) who is a science teacher of Ramkrishna Mission School.
She also expressed desire to do Physics (Honours) and enter Civil Service.
Sophiya's uncle and mother also expressed happiness at the fact that she secured 2nd position although Sophia's father could not be found as he had left to take part in a training programme at the Forest Department office.
Julendia eyes medical profession
With a total score of 566 marks, Moirangthem Jule-ndia of St Thomas School Kontha Ahallup who bagged 3rd position in the HSLC examination has stated that she always believed that she will emerge successful in the exam.
She is the daughter of Moirangthem Surjit Singh and Moirangthem Premlata Devi of Heingang Awang Leikai.
She said that she always believed that she will get high marks and score more than 90 percent in the class X exam.
Julendia said that she desires to pursue medical studies and become a doctor to serve the people.
She conveyed that she studies for one and half hour in the morning on a routine basis before going to school and then she reads for another one and half hour in the night after coming from tuition. She added that she reads for around six hours during holidays and near exam time.
