IMPHAL, May 18: One Leishangthem Koba of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai, has clarified that a story, along with a photo of his newborn child, which went viral on social media alleging that the child had been abandoned at a private clinic, is false and baseless.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Koba said that a child was born to his wife, Leishangthem (o) Prema through caesarian section, at  Little Clinic Nagaram on May 12.
However, the child expired on the same day, he said and explained that the family members did not resort to any unethical practice during the time.
But it is highly disappointing that a story went viral on social media that a newborn child had been abandoned, he added.
He continued that Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has taken up a suo motto case based on the social media case and it was reported that some members of MCPCR came to  the parents.
However, no one approached us in any way, he claimed and strongly condemned the act of piling mental trauma upon the family members, especially the mother who had just lost her child.
