Unfortunate : JAC

    20-May-2019
IMPHAL, May 19: The JAC formed in connection with the death of Khunjamayum Arun, has conveyed that the incident at Lamphel Court complex, was really unfortunate and uncalled for.
Speaking to media persons at Bamon Kampu today, the JAC secretary Rajeeb Thangsabam apologised to the CJM Imphal East and to the All Manipur Bar Association.
He then alleged that yesterday's incident occurred after an Advocate identified as one Nabachandra, began using harsh languages against the people of Bamon Kampu, who had been tense from the past due to the murder.
He further reasoned that if Imphal West district police had prevented the people from entering the Court complex, the incident might have been averted.
Failing to take pre-emptive and preventive action beforehand and only arresting people after an incident has occurred is uncalled for, he claimed, appealing to the authority concerned to look into this loophole as well.
On the other hand, secretary of Women Against Crime, A Robita Leima said that yesterday's incident at the Court complex was very unfortunate.
She continued that the 13 women who were arrested, are all housewives and have children and as such, she appealed to the authority concerned to release them at the earliest.
Later, the people formed human chain and shouted slogan demanding immediate conclusion to the murder of Kh Arun. The people also attempted to storm Irilbung PS demanding the police to arrest them.
It may be mentioned that 45 year old Khunjamayum Arun of Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai, was found dead at a paddy field near his residence on the morning of April 23 and shortly later his wife, Helen alias Thoi and her paramour Naosekpam Rabi (Pradhan of  Bamon Kampu GP) were arrested by police in connection with the murder.
Yesterday, while Helen was being produced before CJM Imphal East, an ugly incident erupted which ended with the mob targeting the Court room and the eventual arrest of 13 women by police.
