CPI local council conference held

BISHNUPUR, May 20 : The 46th local council conference of Communist Party of India (CPI), Kumbi Council was  held yesterday at Biplabi Bira Bhawan, Kumbi Sandhong in the presence of over  200 delegates. The conference began with the  hoisting of CPI flag and paying floral tribute at the statue of Jana Neta Hijam Irawat placed in front of the Bhawan.
CPI, National executive member, Dr M Nara; State secretary, L Sotinkumar Singh; District secretary, Bishnupur, K Bimol Singh; State assistant secretary, Kh Surchand Singh and veteran Communist leader, Kh Dhana Meitei attended the programme as dignitaries.
During the conference, Kh Manikanta was elected as local secretary while L Ramo Singh, W Opendro Singh, Kh Mani Singh and N Gyaneshwor Singh were given the responsibility of assistant secretary (local), assistant secretary, treasurer and office secretary of the council. Altogether, 31 members were elected to run the council.
Speaking at the event, Dr Nara spoke about the importance of giving proper knowledge about socialism to the masses to bring about a positive changes in the State.
