IMPHAL, May 21: The KNO has condemned without reservation the cold blooded murder of Tirong Aboh, the sitting MLA from Arunachal Pradesh’s Khonsa West Assembly constituency.
The sitting MLA was shot dead by NSCN-IM insurgents in the Bogapani area of Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh today, it said.  Ten others were also killed in the ambush laid by the NSCN(IM), according to a press issued by KNO president PS Haokip.
The responsibility for this cowardly act of cold-blooded murder, and unnecessary death rests squarely with the group which had committed this horrendous crime.
The onus now falls upon the Government of India, to shows its commitment by working with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and international partners to pursue those responsible for this heinous act, KNO asserted.
Saying that the NSCN-IM had been committing with impunity one act of violence after another in the region, it asked why the Government of India did not provide adequate security cover for TirongAboh, knowing that he is being targeted by the NSCN-IM.
It went on to ask if the Framework Agreement signed between GoI & NSCN-IM, empowers the latter to shoot, maim or kill anyone when and where it chooses.
It further asked why GoI has not taken any resolute action against NSCN-IM so far.
Alleging that the NSCN-IM has no respect for human life and the principle of peaceful co-existence, the KNO lamented that such a promising life has been cut short tragically by this senseless act of violence.
It then urged Government of India to reconsider their ceasefire with NSCN-IM and completely annihilate the organisation it once declared terrorists.
It also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families of Tirong Aboh, and ten other people killed by NSCN-IM.
