BJP rebuts Cong, Oppn

IMPHAL, May 22: Stating that the charges levelled by the Congress party and all other Opposition parties are baseless and unfounded, BJP Manipur Pradesh has stated that the Opposition parties are rattled by their likely defeat and are trying to tarnish the image of the country and its democratic machineries by raising doubts on its electoral process.
A press release issued by the president of BJP Manipur Pradesh K Bhabananda Singh today mentioned that the ECI has today asserted that the transport and storage of EVMs are well secured, dismissing the doubts raised by the Opposition over movement and alleged replacement and manipulation of these machines.
It continued that the entire process of polling and storage of EVMs in the strongroom is fool proof and as per the guidelines, the EVMs are transported back to the reception centres under proper escort by a contingent of Central Paramilitary forces and State police.
The complete set of control units, ballot units and VVPATs of a polling station are kept in the same strong room which is sealed under double lock in the presence of the candidates or their agents and the observers, it added.
The Congress party and the other Opposition parties maintained their faith in EVMS and exit polls in the recent State Assembly elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka,  it said and claimed that the recent attitude of the said parties show their double standard nature and whatever charges they levelled against EVMs and against the possible outcome of the Lok Sabha elections 2019, in the form of exit polls, are just a bunch of thoughtless excuses to escape from imminent defeat.
