Lawyers condemn

In the wake of mob storming the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East on May 19 in connection with the murder of Khunjamayum Arun, Indian Association of Lawyers, Manipur Chapter today condemned the incident and urged the authorities concerned to provide adequate security to lawyers, under-trial accused, Court staff and properties of the Court.
It also condemned the alleged assault on one Advocate and appealed law enforcing agencies to provide fool-proof security to the trial Court as well as the High Court.
It may be mentioned that 13 members of the JAC against brutal killing of Khunjamayum Arun Meitei, Bamon Kampu Imphal East who were allegedly involved in vandalising the Court were sent to Judicial custody yesterday.
Arun was found murdered on April 23 and subsequently his wife Helen and Pradhan N Rabi were arrested.
Meanwhile, the JAC in a statement today apologised to the  Imphal East Magistrate, All Manipur Bar Association and Lawyers/Advocates for the incident. The JAC will co-operate with the lawyers, it said.
