IMPHAL, May 23
Clarifying the press release issued by managing director, MSPDCL, Vakho Khabung Karong Village Authority, Vakho Women Society and Vakho Youth & Students Organisation have denounced the alleged attempt of the officer to mislead the public and malign the image of the village by providing misleading information in the public domain.
The joint body, while underlining the alleged negligent approach of the company towards its consumers, stated that Vakho village was one of the first colonies in and around the district headquarters to invite MSPDCL to install prepaid meter boxes, keeping in mind the benefits it would bring to the villagers.
However, only 75 meter boxes were sanctioned for the village and no attempts were made by the company to complete the installation and activation drive, it stated.
It alleged that MSPDCL officials have been resorting to threats of disconnection in a bid to enhance its revenue generation without redressing the grievances of the existing consumers.
The MSPDCL is yet to complete the process of removing and replacing the existing ‘naked wires’ with plastic coated cables, the statement maintained and added that no remedial measures have been taken up in the last one year, it said.
Clarifying the statement of the officer, the joint body maintained that there was absolutely no attempt by the villagers to resist the raid led by the Manager, Senapati Sub-division.
It further went on to state that there was no resistance from conducting further disconnection of lines on the same day as alleged by the officer in the press note.
The condemnation notices, mentioned in the press note, from the three village organizations namely Vakho Khabun (Karong Village Authority), Vakho Women Society and Vakho Youth & Student organization which were published in the local daily was neither unfortunate nor misleading to the public, it stated and added that it merely condemned the rude, brash, arrogant and undisciplined behaviour of the manager.
The joint body urged the authorities of MSPDCL to refrain from publicly defending an erring officer thereby tarnishing its own image. Instead, the authorities should conduct an internal and impartial probe into the matter rather than being misled by the one-sided report of its officials, it alleged.
It assured that the joint body will extend fullest co-operation to MSPDCL officials in carrying out their duties in the future.
