Pallel drug haul case Charges framed against 7 more individuals

IMPHAL, May 25: Special Court ND&PS Manipur, yesterday, framed charges against 7 more individuals out of the remaining 8 accused persons involved in the October 3, 2013 Pallel drug haul case which also involved then Defense PRO Ajay Choudhary.
On May 7, the Court had framed charges against former PRO Defense Ajay Choudhary of Pratap Chowk, New Delhi, RK Babloo of Top Khongnangkhong, Rajness Kumar of Lucknow, Lhunkhohao Haokip of Langol Games village, Seikholun Haokip of 5th Avenue, Dewlaland and former Indigo Security Staff Ngairangbam Brojen of Singjamei Khongnang Pheidekpi, for the trial of the drug haul case.
8 other accused of the case, had failed to appear before the Court on that day and as such the Court had fixed yesterday for framing charges against the remaining accused.
Yesterday 7 of the remaining accused, identified as Dhrubajoyti Das, Madhi Das, Utpal Debnath, Banamali Talukdar, Tiken Deka, Diskant Goel and K Anand, appeared before the Court.
The Court framed charges against them in connection with case as per the different charges levelled against them by CBI, apart from fixing June 6 for framing charge against Ajay Kumar Bhatia, who failed to appear before the Court.
It may be noted that most of the accused persons are presently out on bail in connection with the case.
It may be mentioned that on October 3, 2013, a team of Thoubal district commandos intercepted three vehicles, including the vehicle of then PRO Defense Wing Ajay Choudhary, Lhunkhohao Haokip, Rajkumar Babloo Singh, Ngairangbam Brojendro Singh and others, at Pallel commando check post.
While checking the three vehicles, a huge consignment of pseudoephedrine tablets (which included Respifed, Omkop, Hilcold, Polyfed and Actidin), were found in 33 different bags and carton boxes with a total worth of around Rs 15 crore.
Inside the vehicle which was occupied by the PRO Defense Wing, the commando team found drugs packed in 2 large bags, 5 carton boxes and one large plastic bag.
As a follow up action, all the remaining accused were arrested by police and the case was handed over to CBI by the State Government.
