Saarthi devices distributed to visually impaired persons

IMPHAL, May 25: Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation, Manipur and Torch-It, Ahmedabad organised a training and awareness cum Saarthi device distribution programme today at Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel, Imphal.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, Banti Konthoujam, Joint Director Social Welfare Department, appreciated the organisers for distributing Saarthi device to the visually impaired persons.
Members of Torch-It distributed the Saarthi devices and demonstrated its usage.
Torch-It is a tech-for-social-good start-up launched in 2016 with the idea of empowering differently abled community to lead a dignified, independent, and meaningful life through design and development of state-of-the-art technological innovations using artificial intelligence and machine learning, said officials.
Torch-It is in the process of launching two new assistive aids for the visually impaired - 'Jyoti', a one-stop tech solution for mobility and the 'Take Note', for enabling digital Braille education, said Torch-It officials.
Y Premlata Devi, Headmistress, Government Ideal Blind School, Hunny Bhagchandani, CEO Torch-It, Jiten Gupta and Raj Ragini, members Torch-It and Thiyam Ram Singh, vice chairman HD Foundation attended the event.
