Tunisian Film Festival begins

IMPHAL, May 25 : A two day “Tunisian Film Festival 2019” jointly organised by Federation of Film Societies of India (Eastern Region) and Film Society of Manipur kicked off today at the auditorium of MSFDS, Palace Compound, Imphal.
The festival supported by Tunisian Embassy, New Delhi and Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Imphal was inaugurated by M Lakshmikumar Singh, Commissioner, Art and Culture.
Speaking at the event, M Lakshmikumar said that the initiative taken up by film body of Manipur in collaboration with Tunisian Embassy at New Delhi is laudable as it will help promote and develop the State film industry.
The Commissioner talked about the various plans including formulation of a film policy to grow the film industry.
He also underscored the need of enhancing MSFDS's role  and its functioning and increase capacity of the society's auditorium and its various infrastructures.
Director of Department of Art and Culture, A Shivdas Sharma stated that the projector and screen at the MSFDS auditorium will be upgraded before June 10 to improve quality.
Saying films have massive influence on the public, he appealed State film makers to produce quality movies that public can relate to and reflect upon.
Former Director of IPR, Manipur, Meghachandra Kongbram also attended the programme among others.
