Month long awareness trip concludes at Kangla

IMPHAL, May 26 : Nandeibam Tompok, who kicked off a month long drive to raise awareness on ill effects of extra marital affairs and crimes against women and children across the valley concluded his journey at Kangla today, where he was given a warm welcome by the people.
The trip was flagged off on April 25 from Kangla  while the drive which was jointly organised by Organisation For Indian Women Against Crime (Women Against Crime) and Lups of Salai Taret.
Speaking to media persons, Tompok stated that he decided to go on the drive to raise awareness about the negative impacts of adultery and crimes against women and children and also to urge the State Government to make a suitable law to tackle these issues. He credited different organisations for extending support in organising the trip and added that the trip was successfully organised because of their prayers and support.
He said awareness on these issues were disseminated at around 200 schools and localities across the valley and expressed hope that his journey would bring some change in the minds of the youth and the young children.
He maintained that the awareness drive wrapped up at Wangkhei school yesterday. Tompok remarked that he will continue to embark on such journey in the near future too.
Organisation for Indian Women Against Crime (Women Against Crime) advisor S Sobita said that Tompok went had reached Chajing Karam, Khangabok, Heirok, Tentha, Kakching, Kakching Khunou, Sugnu, Kumbi, Keibul Lamjao, Moirang, Nachou, Nambol, Kwakeithel, Yumnam Huidrom, Uchiwa, Patsoi, Khumbong, Iroisemba, Senjam Chirang, Pheidinga, Khonghampat, Khurai, Pangei, Lamlai, Nongren, Andro, Wangkhei, Kongba, Wangkhei. Sobita expressed gratitude to all the organisations and clubs which welcomed Tompok and supported his journey.
