IMPHAL, May 26 : All Manipur Arts & Culture Students Union (AMACSU) celebrated its 20th foundation day at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance Academy today.
Gifts were presented to senior individuals who are engaged in the field of Art and Culture as part of the function.
Speaking at the function as the chief guest, Secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi, L Kishworjit said that the people of Manipur are in a state of dilemma and confusion when it comes to discussing their culture.
He stated that the bigger issue which the people are facing at the moment is the fear that the present generation and the younger generations will be swept away by outside cultures and forget their own roots.
There is a lack of understanding and thorough study of the components of the State's customs and social behaviour. As such, people start taking the very custom lightly and adapts to other culture very quickly.
Remarking that the State Kala Akademi is degrading slowly , Kishworjit said that the Akademi is likely to disappear owing to the lack of sufficient fund.
He further stressed on the need to preserve and conserve the assets which are a part of the tradition and custom of the people.
Lifetime president, MSSLC (Manipur State Shumang Leela Council) Ph Gunachandra Sharma, Advisor AMUCO, R Yangsosong Koireng and Padmashree Awardee Naba Wareppa attended the event as guests of honour.
