1st Sub-Junior Girls Inter Club Football Tournament kicks off

IMPHAL, May 2 : The first edition of Sub-Junior Girls Inter Club Football Tournament being organised by All Manipur Football Association kicked off today at Mapal Kangjeibung with 9 teams clustered into two groups participating in it.
The opening match of the tournament saw ICSA come back from a goal down to overwhelm THAU, Thangmeiband 4-1 while ESU, Wangkhei carved out a 3-2 win against KRYPHSA, Naoremthong in the high scoring second match.
THAU took off the game with a bang in the opening match as Amom Nanao hit the opener in the 3rd minute but the team slipped back as ICSA surged ahead with the equaliser in the 32nd minute through I Geetarani.
L Bijeiya of ICSA then broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute after a 1-1 draw at the break before her team-mate L Shelia gave two goal cushion in the 56th minute. L Bijeiya then rose against in the 59th minute to hit her second goal and completed the 4-1 rout of the Thangmeiband side.
Meanwhile in the second match, ESU, Wangkhei had a slow start to the game and took a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to G Premita's shot in the 9th minute.
Ch Anjali of ESU doubled their advantage in the 41st minute as the Naoremthong side failed to resist their rivals. KRYPHSA's condition went from bad to worse in the 52nd minute when ESU got their third goal with the help of Anjali Gurumayum.
KRYPHSA however made a very late return with L Priya hitting the target in the 70th minute (last minute) before Lhingpahhoi struck another during the stoppage time (70'+3') to make it 2-3 at the end.
