IMPHAL, Jun 15: Demanding the State Government to provide the necessary appointment letter to the 2000 candidates who have been already selected, the All Manipur Selected 2000 Candidate of Police Constable Civil/Male 2013 batch, attempted to stage a protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall today but were cut short by a large number of  Imphal West district police personnel.

The protest began at around 10.30 am at the community hall but soon a team of Imphal PS asked the protesters to vacate the area thus preventing them from staging the demonstration or gathering in the area.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protesters, A Binoy said that the 2000 selected candidates as well as their guardians/parents held a meeting at the community hall and discussed about the complications faced by the candidates who have been jobless for the past seven years.
He explained that on December 22 last year, the State Government had finally announced the recruitment result but even so it failed to provide the appointment letters to the selected candidates till date.
After the meeting, the protesters adopted many resolutions including condemning the authority concerned for failing to provide the appointment letters and to appeal to the authority to provide the appointment letters before June 25 considering the hardships faced by the family members of the selected candidates.
If the authority fails to provide the appointment letters during the given date then the family members and the selected candidates will launch democratic forms of protest, he warned.
