Prize and award distribution ceremonies held

IMPHAL, Jun 16: The 18th annual prize distribution for State level and Okram Sagei level meritorious students of HSLC and Hr Secondary Examination Manipur and Class X and XII of CBSE Examination 2019, was held at Manipur Press Club today.
The ceremony was organized by the organizing committee of the Okram Sagei Apokpa Trust and was attended by L Mahendra Singh, Chairman, Council Of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) as chief guest, Dr O Kumar Singh, vice president Okram Sagei Apokpa Trust (Thoubal Taba Pu) as president, Professor Chinglen Meisnam, faculty member, Economics Department Manipur University and O Sudesh (Sagei Peba) as guests of honour.
Giving his speech, Professor Chinglen Meisnam said that education is the fundamental rights for a healthy and productive population which contributes in Nation  building.
Education is also the means for disseminating knowledge and development skills, for bringing about desired changes in behaviours, values and lifestyle, he said adding that education is humanity's best hope and most effective means in the quest to achieve sustainable and socially inclusive development.
The chief guest, president and guest of honour handed over awards to the meritorious students who secured positions in the HSLC and Hr Secondary Examination of Manipur and Class X and XII CBSE examinations and also the meritorious students of Okram Sagei.
Best sportspersons of the State in the field of fencing, football and hockey were also honoured during the function
The organizing committee also provided financial assistance to the destitute and old Okram Ningol, oldest Okram Piba and Ningol and old women registered vendor of Ima Keithel Khwairamband bazaar.
Organisation for Integrated Rural Development (OIRD), Manipur also conducted 4th academic excellence and 3rd sports merit award distribution ceremony at Ibudhou Pakhangba & Ima Malem Leima Community Hall, Patsoi Part-I, today.
Patsoi AC MLA, AK Mirabai and OIRD advisor, retd Headmaster of Yurembam High School, Naoshekpam Komol Singh graced the event as chief guest and president respectively.
Pradhan, Patsoi Gram Panchayat, Kongkham (O) Priya Devi, proprietor, SDS Construction Material Private  Limited, Lamdeng, Soibam Dhanabir Singh, Principal, Pole Star Public School, Patsoi, Kh Biramani Singh, proprietor, MPS Brick Field, Patsoi, Part-I, Mutum Pandit Singh, social worker, RK Somorendro (Kaiku) also attended the programme among others.
At the event, MLA AK Mirabai Devi said that though Manipur is a small State, it is home to different communities and known as the power house of sports in the country for its capability to represent and take medals in many National and International level sports events.
She then urged all the students to focus on their studies to contribute in the development of the State.
The 12th Thokchom Navakumar Memorial award distribution ceremony was also organised at Sagolmang multipurpose community hall, Khundrakpam A/C under Imphal East district today. The event, which was organised under the aegis of Thokchom Navakumar Memorial Trust and Progressive Youth Club, Sagolmang, was attended by Tipaimukh MLA Dr Chalton Lien Amo, Khundrakpam MLA Thokchom Lokeshwor and Wangkhem MLA Keisham Meghachandra as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Altogether 271 students of Khundrakpam AC as well as achievers in various fields as well as toppers of Class X and XII examinations were felicitated during the event.
Speaking at the event, MLA Dr Chalton Lien Amo lauded all the students and said that education has become an important part of life in today's society.
He also lauded MLA Th Lokeshwor for his effort to reward the hard-working students. 
Lamlai Kendra Youth Development Community (LKYDC) also encouraged the meritorious students of Lamlai kendra who cleared the recent Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM with high marks during a solemn function held at Lamlai Lainingthou Pureiromba Hall, Imphal East, today.
