Expedite Naga peace process : Nagaland BJP

DIMAPUR, Jun 16 : The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the Central party leadership in Delhi to expedite the Naga peace process and resolve the long-pending Indo-Naga political issue.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and Higher & Technical Education Minister Temjen Imna Along, accompanied by State BJP legislators, made the appeal to BJP National general secretary in-charge of North East Ram Madhav when they called on him in New Delhi on Saturday.
During the meeting, the State BJP leaders also highlighted various developmental aspects needed to be taken up in the State, the media cell of the Deputy Chief Minister’s office said in a release on Sunday.
They also stressed the need to further strengthen the party in the North East in general and Nagaland in particular.
Ram Madhav assured of taking all positive steps towards the issues raised by the State party leaders, the release said.
Meanwhile, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Sunday expressed gratitude to all Churches in Nagaland for ringing of bells/chimes to commemorate the 10th year of the signing of the Covenant of Reconciliation on June 13, testifying to the world that Nagas and non-Nagas in Nagaland want peace and reconciliation to prevail.
All the Churches across Nagaland, at the request of FNR, also prayed for peace and “Naga reconciliation” on Sunday.
The Covenant of Reconciliation was signed by all the top Naga political groups on June 13, 2009, under the banner of FNR.
Joining the 10th anniversary of signing of the agreement, the Naga Hoho acknowledged the struggle of FNR members, particularly in leading the Naga people towards the path of reconciliation among the rival Naga groups.
